The fabulous World Heritage site of the Canal du Midi is just a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction. Portiragnes Plage is at the heart of the Languedoc wine making region with many chateau, wineries and co-ops to visit.
The Languedoc region enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate of hot summers and mild winters. A drive of less than an hour will bring you to many wonderful cities, towns and villages which are steeped in history - Beziers, Carcassonne, Narbonne, Perpignan, Montpellier, Pezanas, Roquebrun, Minerve, Agde, Cap d’ Agde and Sete are to name but a few. We would recommend the hire of a car so as to visit all of these wonderful places!
